The Motor City’s Influence on Washington Society Highlighted During a 10-Year-Anniversary of the No Permission Needed Art Collection by M. Gasby Brown The 10th anniversary of No Permission Needed Fine Art by Gasby Brown was held on Sunday, October 26, 2015 at the Willard Inter Continental. The standing-room-only charitable art exhibit benefited the Greater Washington Urban League and Detroit Urban League. Nearly 250 people attended, including several members of media, art connoisseurs, dignitaries and Washington-Detroit Natives.

The program included an exhibition of over 50 original pieces of art by Brown, which transformed the ballroom into a beautiful multi-faceted gallery that truly impressed event guests. The Master of Ceremonies was WPGC News Anchor Guy Lambert; Greater Washington Urban League President George H. Lambert, Jr., and Detroit Urban League President N. Charles Anderson provided remarks; Violinist Kendall Isadore captivated the audience with two musical selections; and Dancer Jasmine Brooks provided a beautiful liturgical dance piece. During the event, Visual Artist Gasby Brown was presented with the Spirit of Detroit Award on behalf of the Mayor and City Council of Detroit, Michigan.

Through a “Life In a Frame” Awards Ceremony, the No Permission Needed anniversary served as an opportunity to honor the Motor City and 13 powerful change-makers who are natives of Detroit but have impacted Washington Society.
